aec R&D | From our own R&D efforts we have created a sports field multiplex facility prototype that has now been placed in the project design of client projects. Sports field multiplexes have been proven successful in many locations; our prototype has some enhancements of an experiential design nature to propel the guest experience for both participants and spectators.

Confidential Client | A conceptual design was rapid-prototyped for a mixed-use destination resort, so that the artificial (outdoor) downhill ski and downhill snowtubing slope would act as the “big idea” focal point of on-site guest activity. The outdoor slope would be all-weather, using one of the new artificial snow sports surfacing products such as Briton Engineering’s Snowflex®.
Liberty University (Lynchburg, Virginia) covered a downhill slope on Candler Mountain in 2009, creating Snowflex Centre. The application was one of the first in the U.S.
For a mixed-use project in planning, shown here is a preliminary (rapid prototyping) look at how the artificial downhill ski and snowtubing slope might be situated within the overall massing of the site and the organization of various land uses.
Confidential Client | Included as part of our work as tribal – First Nation project consultants, as a potential project for exploration, in an overall portfolio 10-year economic development plan. Bear Butte State Park (South Dakota) is a distant scenic backdrop to the property.

Big idea exploration and experiential design, site selection, and market / financial analysis for a proposed destination resort based upon the interests of extreme sports enthusiasts. Special analysis consideration to long-haul travel factors and demographics of the target market. Part of the experiential design included consideration of a standing obstacle course facility for enthusiasts of such extreme running.
